Prospect House was built in 1847 and sits proudly in the shadows of Castle Hill,Mexborough, South Yorkshire. The ground it was built on was formerly a Norman Moat and Bailey Castle dating back to the 11th Century.

Prospect House was originally named Ash Mount and has a lengthy history of paranormal activity and sightings, some of which are believed to date back to its 11th century period.

In 1887 the property was purchased by a successful glue manufacturer named Arthur Cockayne but from day one at the property Arthur's life was plagued by bad luck! In fact not long after buying the property he died is suspicious circumstances and his spirit is one of the most frequent reported at this location being described as a very grumpy old man.

in 1905 the property was purchased once more by Dr John James Huey who was a medical officer who over saw the deadly smallpox outbreak in the area. He decided to turn the building into a medical practice on one floor whilst living in the upper floors.The building also doubled as a hospital during the war! Dr Hueys spirit is also one of the sightings at the house.

in 1950 Dr Thomas Lyndsey moved into the practice with his wife Geraldyne. However just one year later in 1951 Geraldyne died very suddenly in the house and there have been many reported sightings of a very sad lady on the staircase, Maybe Geraldyde?
